Hey, Erin, have you joined the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI.org)? They have amazing opportunities,listserv support and conferences for people trying to break into the industry, and a chance to meet with agents (better than submitting to the "slush pile"). Good luck!
