As an Illustrator, Dahl Taylor has created paintings for New York State Historic Sites at Fort Montgomery, New Windsor and Crown Point, several Broadway plays including the Tony-nominated ‘Having Our Say’ and a Neil Simon play and many children's theatre productions. He has had commissions for limited edition prints for the U.S. Navy Memorial and the National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial. Editorial work has appeared on the pages of numerous magazines including ‘Money’, ‘Forbes’, ‘Readers’ Digest’ and ‘The New Yorker’. He has had assignments for clients such as General Electric, GATX Corporation, BMG Music, AL Labs, Abbott Pharmaceuticals and American Express International Banking. He re-illustrated a 54 painting book series for The Pleasant Company’s ‘American Girl’ books. A series of six paintings depicting native New York peoples throughout history were created for the New York State Museum. A 36’ long Veterans memorial mural is installed in the main library on the Albany campus of the State University of New York.
In addition to illustration assignments he has concentrated on equestrian and maritime themes as well as portraiture. Commissioned portraits include the official portrait of a former NY State Attorney General and several major institutional and corporate collections. Marine, equestrian and landscape paintings are also included in many public as well as private collections. Shows at numerous galleries, include a two man show at The Rice Gallery at the Albany Institute of History and Art documenting the construction of a replica of the schooner ‘America’, A one man show at the Society of Illustrators and twelve international marine art shows at the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport. Equestrian paintings have been included in shows around Saratoga and throughout New England.
