Welcome to the site if you are new. I am new and just finding my way around. I am trying to let people know who I am and trying to get to know other members. I hope we can be good freinds!
I recently have a new children's book coming out this November called "Sadie the Skunk." It’s about a little skunk who thinks she is a black cat until one day she discovers she looks different from the rest of her family and finds out she is not a cat and wants to find out what she is. She ends up finding Mr. Groundhog who thinks she is a beaver, then a sparrow and so on until Sadie gets so upset she poofs out a cloud of smog which lets Mr. Groundhog know what she is. Then she is taken to her real family. Tioka Tokedira joined SCBWI as a way to find kindred spirits, and has been the Regional Advisor in France since April 2007. She is putting the finishing touches on her first fiction project, a middle-grade adventure story set in France and is letting two picture books percolate. Her greatest hope is that her love of words and world cultures will stir the imagination of young readers.

In the US, Tioka worked for PBS and the Discovery Channel on news and documentary programs and lived in just about every city on the east coast. Then a Frenchman knocked her off her feet, literally. Now Tioka, and her very charming husband, call a tiny, 6th floor apartment in the middle of Paris home. She divides her non-writing time between leading communication seminars, editing scientific articles, traveling and sailing.

She has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Boston University and a M.A. in Anthropology from Columbia.
