About Mary
Children, reading and writing are three passions in my life. I am fortunate to be involved with all three. I graduated from California State University Long Beach in 1984 with a BA in Psychology and from California Family Study Center in 1989 with a MA in Family Systems. I am a licensed marriage family therapist and currently President of the Board at Rainbow Services—a domestic violence program in San Pedro, CA. I have been a consultant at Brighter Days Montessori School in San Pedro, CA. I have a love of children’s literature and have found it to be educational, healing, and inspirational when working with children.
I have written a column for my local newspaper--The Peninsula News—and recently had an essay published in another local newspaper--The Daily Breeze. I’ve taken courses in children’s literature for two semesters from UCLA and am currently working on three books for young readers.
Personal information: I am married, mother of four and grandmother of ten. I am a founding member of CORE—a reading group for twelve years. I enjoy researching new areas of interest, history, travel, gardening, cooking, and entertaining.
