I grew up on seven acres in a suburb of Lansing, MI, running track half-heartedly and roaming with our lab/border collie.

I graduated from Hope College in Holland, MI with a BA in English (Creative Writing Emphasis).

Presently I work in marketing at Creative Byline, a web-based manuscript submission-service that vets and connects writers and publishers like St. Martin's Press, Dutton Children's Books, and Globe Pequot for practically nothing. By night, I drink gin and tea and like Raskolnikov rasp around greater Grand Rapids, writing down how I imagine people I've invented would speak and behave toward each other.

In Fall 2009 I will move to Boston and begin Emerson College's MFA in Creative Writing.
