Laurie is the founder of Socratic Parenting, LLC (www.SocraticParenting.com) and co-creator of Token of Change™. She lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana with her husband and daughter. She loves to talk to parents, teachers, and kids about reading, writing, creative living and anything else that interests them. Summer Sanctuary (Luminis Books/May 2010) is her first young adult novel. She's finished her second YA novel and is working on her third.

Laurie earned her B.A. from Goshen College in 1986 and her J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in 1993. From 1986-1990 Laurie taught high school Spanish, coaching volleyball, basketball and academic teams, and working summers as an interpreter for a missionary group in Guatemala. An experienced trial attorney and child advocate, Laurie presented at the 25th ant 26th National Symposiums on Child Abuse in Huntsville, Alabama, in 2009 and 2010 and at the 37th Annual Midwest Writers Workshop at Ball State University in 2010. She also works as a bilingual Forensic Interviewer at the Bill Lewis Center for Children in Fort Wayne, Indiana, conducting interviews in both Spanish and English.
