The first thing I remember writing was a poem in 4th grade about a very disagreeable camel.Fortunately, as I grew I moved on from humpy animals leaving me high and dry in the desert on to more commercial material -- mostly songwriting and later reporting and fiction with some instructional writing thrown in.
I've worked with songwriters and publishers in Nashville (no big hits) but I got into songwriting with and for children. From that came a twice recorded song called "Baby Love" that was the title song on a Target stores Lullabye Collection project and a Grammy Nominated children's album. Other often requested children's songs include the I Like song and Henry, the Hog, which has been requested by young and old -- sober and not so sober.
Working with the CMA I wrote with kids and appeared on television performing with a student and also on the now off-the-air syndicated Mr. Pepermint show, and numerous child friendly venues -- yes, day cares and pre-schools.
After a long stint of newsletter writing and editing with the Dallas Songwriters' Association I went back to fiction writing and have won an award or two for adult short stories. I also have two novels in progress.
Most recently I've been writing sewing project instructions and a course for teaching children to sew. This connects to my very part-time job selling and training people on expensive Husqvarna Viking sewing machines and the embroidery software that can be used with them to be even more creative. Along these lines I've taught basic computer classes and have written a text for those classes.
So that's me, plus I'm married, mother of two adult girls, one son-in-law who's serving our country, Nana to grandson Joshua, mom to McKenzie Piddlesquirts - a Westie, and Harry Potter - a cocker spaniel with a lightening bolt on his forehead.
