About shelli
Here is my boring bio - I'll get a better one up soon :)
After attending University of Georgia, I received my Master’s degree at Auburn University in Marketing and Communications. Before embarking on a my career, I took time off and managed the Children’s Department at a Barnes & Noble. I spent countless hours selling children’s books, reading stories, and learning the likes and dislikes of children of all ages.
After working as an executive in Corporate America for many years, I realized I wanted to just be a writer. In 2000, I started my own marketing business where I could write for businesses during the day, while I write for children at night. I have done copywriting for all types of businesses including Bijou Bra, Spanx, Goody, Bank of America, Accenture, and many more. In addition, my writing has been featured in non-fiction magazines and business periodicals.
Last year, Llewellyn publishing chose to publish one of my poems in the Deluxe Edition of Blue is for Nightmares by Laurie Faria Stolarz. A beginning to what I hope will be a long and bestselling career :)
I am currently an active member of Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the Public Relations Representative for the Southern Breeze region.
My passion is to inspire children with my words and help my fellow authors find creative ways to market their passions and products.
