About Jerre
Jerre Haskew is a music/book publisher, writer and singer/songwriter and the author of the beautifully illustrated children's book/CD combo "A Lion Named Sam" (copyright Jerre R Haskew 2000; Illustrations copyright Patricia Mayes 2000) The book is based on a children's song Jerre wrote in 1963 of the same title and recorded with his nationally known folk singing group, The Cumberland Trio. www.cumberlandtrio.com.
The song was recorded in April, 1964 at famed RCA Studio B in Nashville, TN and produced by the legendary Chet Atkins. A CD of the song "A Lion Named Sam" (copyright Jerre R Haskew 1964 & 2000) is included with the book as a package. The song was recorded by The Cumberland Trio at that RCA session.
The book was the brainchild of Jerre's wife of 45 years, Barbara Short Haskew, who had it illustrated and printed in April 2000 to Jerre asa special gift for their 45th anniversary. The book/CD combo is in it's 2nd printing and has sold in excess of 7,000 copies.
The Cumberland Trio reunited on November 9, 2001 and performed a reunion concert at the historic Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, TN that was recorded and entitled "Reunion Concert Live!" It was released on both 2 disc CD and VHS Video in early 2002. The original 1964 RCA LP The Cumberland Trio was released on remastered CD in 2001 to rave reviews in folk, bluegrass & Americana music circles. The Trio performed and recorded a second reunion concert at the Bijou on Sept 24, 2004 entitled "Back Where We Began." It was released on 2 disc CD and DVD in early 2005. Both reunion concerts have sold over 10,000 copies, and the Trio is receiving airplay on over 700 FM stations all around the world, including over every country in eastern and western Europe and over 100 in Australia alone! All of The Cumberland Trio's recordings are published and copyrighted by the Haskews' publishing company, Fiery Gizzard Records/Music, LLC.
