Description:
From thie Sept 24, 2004 live reunion concert, Back Where We Began, The Cumberland Trio performs one of their most unique signature songs from the folk era of the "60s, A Lion Named Sam. This whimsical children's song about a boy and his "imaginary" playmate was written in mid-1963 by Trio member Jerre Haskew, who sings all the solo verses. What makes this performance unique is the appearance and antics of "Sam the Lion" played by Jerr'e wife, Barbara Short Haskew in full "Sam" regalia. The audience loves it! There is also a beautiful cello solo instrumental break by the incredibly talented Lou Wamp (www.louwamp.com)while "Sam" does it's "thing!" This seminal folk group from the '60s folk boom era has reunited with a vengeance almost 40 years later in their '60s and are even better than they were back in those heady days of the folk era- and THAT is saying a LOT! All the Trio's recorded music, including the DVD and double CD from this incredible 2 hour ++ live concert, is available at www.cdbaby.com, type cumberland trio in the search box. There are two minute samples of all 27 songs available to hear from this Back Where We Began concert, as well as all the songs from all their CDs. The Trio's great website is www.cumberlandtrio.com.
