In a world where everything is high speed, children seem to be left on the sidelines where education is concerned. It seems as though we want them to be already grown up and know everything so we don't have to teach them.

I think it's time to slow down a bit or at least allow them some pleasure in learning. Children are no different than adults, in that if they enjoy something, they tend to want to do it more often.

There's a sea of books that can be used in education while giving the students a moment of pleasure in learning. Multicultural books should be incorporated more into the classroom, giving children the chance to learn about other cultures and even identify with the daily stresses and emotions that all children everywhere encounter.

We are each an important part of the world we live in and the communities we share.
