I am a librarian, so I have learned about Rae Lowery and her books through student requests. She apparently donated 500 books to a Read it Forward program, and students flooded me with requests asking how to get one. Rae writes books that are really funny, but also informative, and the chapters are short and make the kids feel they have accomplished something by completing a whole chapter in one day. I enjoy reading these books to my students, because it is a bit like a bugs bunny cartoon--many of the jokes go over their heads and make adults laugh out loud. I can't recommend them highly enough.
