Hi Moses,
I actually started my own publishing company, so I work with a creative team whom I hired out. This includes my illustrator, graphic designer, web designer, publicist, marketing manager, editor, and event planner. The making of a book now depends on how professional you want your book to look. There are a lot of online companies out their like lulu and create space that will do the work for you. For me, starting a business was not the cheap way to do it, but if you want to be a career author, the investment has been worth it to me at least. But I have to be honest, I work 7 days a week as an author, public speaker, and publisher for kids. This has become my full time life's work. If you plan on doing part time projects, you may want to look in to the online companies or send your manuscript to a publishing house. If you are planning on full time work, start your own business!
Hope this helps! Good luck.
