Thank you for the nice note and for the inquiry. In regards to your question about getting freelance work, it's really about getting yourself in touch with art directors and designers. When I was an Illustration Director for a newspaper I would receive postcards with samples of many different illustrators. I would then separate those cards in books according to styles, so when a need for a freelance art piece came I could refer to those samples. Of course, getting calls from artists themselves never bothered me, and in fact sometimes they took the weight off me and they had a job! Persistence is key sometimes!
