I'm so glad you liked "Emma's Question." It does mean a lot to me to be able to share this experience with other families. Yes, my mom did call her IV stand her "dancing partner." It made her grandchildren laugh and helped them feel more comfortable in her hospital room. She was a very loving and wise woman, and we are thankful for the time we had with her.

Thanks for your kind words--and for ordering my book! I decided to send the manuscript to Charlesbridge after hearing one of the editors, Randi Rivers, speak at a local SCBWI conference. She said that Charlesbridge was interested in publishing books about difficult topics if they were written in child-friendly way, from a child's perspective--and if the story was strong (versus a book simply written to teach a lesson). I have had a wonderful experience with Charlesbridge. They are publishing my second book, "Polka-dot Fixes Kindergarten," in fall 2011.
