Hi Eric! There is no difference in subject on a personal level - unloyal wife jokes and butt jokes are mostly the same. Political jokes are different - after all that's what kept us alive for many years while under ruling of lunatics. But how you word jokes is very different. You can't say 'He is pulling your leg' in russian language for example, so it took me some time to figure it out when I first heard it. As a person with vivid imagination I imagined my college actually pulling my leg and found it shoking. Only after I've read tons of kids books and watched all Disneys cartoons I started to understand references in books and articles. I do hope I answered your question.
