4. Most importantly, Rachel, your good work is only as good as the marketing that goes IN FRONT of it. The contents of your books are a bonus for people because with the proper marketing they will want to buy it before they now what's in it. Think about this awhile.

5. Do not hurry this. The last thing you want is to have to pay someone a budget BEFORE you start. ANYONE THAT HAS PUBLISHERS FAITH IN YOU WILL HELP YOU PUBLISH AND WILL LOOK FORWARD TO REAPING DIVIDENDS OUT OF THE SUCCESS AS PAYMENT.
YOU HAVE TO AGREE WITH THEM HOW MUCH UNDER CONTRACT.

6. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY A RED CENT TO SOMEONE TO HELP YOU PUBLISH - IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU FOR MONEY TO GET YOU STARTED STAY AWAY!!!!

7. When you publish you will have your own website for your publications with all the Pay Pal, Credit Card and Amazon buttons on it as part of your marketing.

8.Create Space is terrific if they will publish you and wait for payment for cost after you publish. Watch their faith in you disappear when they tell you they will need money to get started?. While they are a lovely company : they are SELLING you their services. Nothing wrong with that at all.

9. You need someone to (a) see your work..(b) edit it (IF it needs editing) (c) prepare it for exporting to a HIGH PROFILE self publisher that has all the contacts outside the job of publishing your book.(d) design a marketing campaign... and then .. go promote yourself and your book content without giving the story away.

Rachel: have you ever heard of a person paying an employer to employ them? Sounds daft and it is. So why should you have to pay to get yourself published BEFORE you get to published?

Personally, I do not like On Demand publishing or just getting 300 copies printed. For example I have already sold 210,000 copies of my first book of 2010 and it has not even hit the shelves yet. That is what clever marketing is all about.
