I was lucky. I was the last child of four. Whenever I thought I couldn’t write (my art form), my siblings told me I could and should. When I asked my mother why should I keep writing when no one wanted to read what it was I wrote, even my siblings, when I myself thought everything I did wasn’t worth the ball I scrunched it up into and slam-dunked for the its only possible award—two points, and even then, I’d usually miss—WHY? My mother always replied, WHY NOT?
