I'll tell u what Bev. In reference to my, "Maurey Clan Forever" colored pencil illustration. I drew it on the cardboard backing of a colored pencil sketch pad. I didn't want to waste the paper I needed for class on a sketch I was doing to kill time between art classes. It just happened to take well to the pencils. Unfortunately, like most of my favorite illustrations, I cannot tell u what I did as far as technique because they always seem to be an accident and therefore difficult to replicate or explain. This is which I have so many different mediums. What's funny is that when it came time for the administration at my college to select which of my pieces would go into the student art show, this is the one they chose. With every student piece in the art show gallery was the professor's class that the piece was accomplished in. So even after I explained that I could not accredit it to any professors class they just chose the professor, who was also the Illustration Dept. chairwomen, and put it in the show. The Maurey Clan was a mock-gang we started in art school at F.I.T. b-cause the, "Maurey Povich" show was right behind the dormitory of the school when I attended there and we frequently got approached by there associates to be part of the studio audience for ten dollars. So Maurey Povich provided us starving artists with lunch money for four years to which we jokingly showed commitment by forming the, "Maurey Clan".

At this point Bev I have yet to illustrate a children's book so any would be an exciting experience for me. I do know childrens books that have left a lasting impression on me since my childhood. They are the very thing that inspired me as a youngster to draw. ... more

At this point Bev I have yet to illustrate a children's book so any would be an exciting experience for me. I do know childrens books that have left a lasting impression on me since my childhood. They are the very thing that inspired me as a youngster to draw. I'd copy illustrations from childrens book for hours when I was a kid and then moved on to comic books as I got into my teens. That has been the most important part of building a foundation for my artwork now, and it would be nice to imagine I too could motivate a child to take the rewarding path of using there imagination and creativity.
