Married at 18 turned 19 the following month and had her first child ten months later. She then proceeded to have 7 more.

She enjoys creating most anything, so for a while she was obsessed with designing houses...it took years, but she finally convinced her husband to build a house for which she had drawn the floor plan.
They did most of the finish work themselves and completed it with a great sense of satisfaction.

Baking, painting and drawing are also pastimes she enjoys. But reading was an early love so it was not overly surprising when she chose to follow in her mother's footsteps and undertake the task of writing a novel.

Her mother began writing in her mid forties as did Kari. In 2009 she wrote three novels and many short stories. She is currently editing the novels.

In 2012 she found an illustrator to create the scenes for her first children's picture book and looks forward to seeing it in print soon.
