When the Danger Bell clangs in Phoebe Featherwell�s small village of White Mice, she learns that a horrible creature has come ashore during the Dark Time, killed three guards, and ransacked their food storage bins. Worse yet, her little brother, Maurice, has disappeared without a trace.

As a Flying Ace in the White Island Guard, Phoebe is ordered to unit headquarters and assigned the mission of locating the creature. Reconnaissance aboard her Colorful Parrot reveals not just one creature-but three of them. They are running along the eastern shore of White Island, heading away from Pirate Cove and toward the Ancient City where the Keeper of The White Book resides.
