Both the author and the illustrator live on the prairie! Author Marybeth Lorbiecki fell in love with it as a child, and now lives in Hudson, Wisconsin. Illustrator Cathy Morrison lives on a shortgrass prairie on the edge of the Great Plains in Hudson, Wisconsin.
