MoreAdmired by the other teens in his class at a small Christian school, well- mannered and vibrant as his surroundings, Korah Asquinn is looked up to by the rest of the young people in Forest Lake. Golden Ridge Baptist School is located in the basement of Golden Ridge Baptist Church, which is built on a ridge overlooking Lake Forest, and surrounded by acres of forests consisting of Poplar, Birch, Spruce and Pine trees.
Korah is unaccustomed to the negative remarks a classmate makes to him and his twin brother, Ted. When the twins family is chosen as host family for an exchange student from Australia, most of Korah's classmates are happy, but one, Earl vanLaislav, is jealous.
Set in a vast area in Northern Ontario, known as The James Bay Frontier, this drama unfolds in the midst of wild freedom, roaring white rapids and wildlife where wild life abounds. Children also are free to make their own decisions after listening to the counsel of their elders.
When Greg Freeman, the exchange student, comes to live the school year with the Asquinn family, the adventure begins. Korah invites Greg to enter the school photography contest. But, there's another boy in the same class that's determined to win the contest.
Greg has been intrigued from the moment his plane lands at the airport and the drive home to Korah's place, by the great expanses of open space, lots of clear, blue sky, and forest. During the contest while gathering pictures to enter Korah, Ted,, and their friends take Greg on a nature hike where Greg takes snapshots of the awesome leaves turning colour in fall. In winter Greg takes pictures of snow, and the flashing, pale greens, pinks and purples of the northern lights.
It is Korah's job to get Greg's lens back and return it to the rightful owner, without compromising his integrity.
