The Quetzal Skull is a novel for Young Adults based on a 2000 years old Mayan prophecy.
When his mysterious Latin American mentor dies unexpectedly, Gray feels honour bound to undertake a mission to restore a sacred crystal skull to its rightful burial place in the rain forest of Costa Rica. His journey takes him across the Atlantic and through dangerous and unfamiliar terrain. He has little to guide him save his own ability to respond to the strange vibrations of the skull and the support of his friend Julie.
The skull is that of the ancient god Quetzalcoatl and had stood for centuries in a niche in a rock by the Sarapiqui river until it was taken from the country for safe-keeping from a marauding drug trafficking cabal who feel endangered by its magical powers.
The elders of the native community of rain forest dwellers look to the ancient prophecy and believe that their ill-treatment at the hands of the evil cabal will only end when `a pale skinned one from the north' returns the sacred skull to its rightful home. They recognise Gray as the chosen one. But so do the cabal who become a constant and determined life-threatening challenge to Gray and Julie.
Who will succeed, the intuitive and resolute Gray and his friend Julie, or the devious and sinister cabal?
