A CRACK IN THE LINE is volume one of The Aldous Lexicon, a trilogy about alternate realities. A great many alternate realities. Volume two is SMALL ETERNITIES, volume three THE UNDERWOOD SEE. Please note that the books should be read in sequence to avoid confusion.

Set in England in 2005, the trilogy was originally published in the US by Greenwillow (HarperCollins) as The Withern Rise Trilogy, and the UK by Orchard Books (Hachette) as The Aldous Lexicon. The Kindle ebook editions are revised versions of the print volumes, with some additional material and considerable re-editing. These constitute the Author's Cut.

As well as being available as three separate volumes, there is now an ebook edition containing all three titles: The Realities of Aldous U, whose only difference is that it has a slightly different opening.
