A story of injustice and revenge. Edmond Dantes is a kind, simple man, a blue collar worker with a beautiful wife and a stable job as a first mate on a shipping vessel. But jealousy soon causes his own ignorance of the evils of the world to catch him in a trap set by supposed friends, and he is wrongly imprisoned on charges of high treason, he goes to an island prison and over the course of 13 years trying to escape and prove his innocence, he meets a teacher who shows him how ignorant he really is of the true ways of the world. Upon his escape he hatches a plan to get back at the people who hurt him, even those who were pawns as much as him, and he learns the easy way that every action has a consequence, but it could have been so much worse, but luckily the writer has a light heart and puts a positive spin even on the worst of circumstances.
Based almost entirely on a true story.
