In a span of four years the Abernathy Boys traveled more than 12,000 miles by horseback, automobile and motorcycle, with the encouragement and understanding of their famous father, "Catch-`em-Alive" Jack Abernathy, U.S. Marshal of Oklahoma, and friend of President Theodore Roosevelt who was renowned for his ability to catch wild wolves with only his hands.
