MoreUsed First Edition Hardcover published by Crown Publishers, N.Y., 1995, 286 pages in Very Good Condition. Text is clean and unmarked with no rips, tears, creases, loose or bent pages. Text looks like it was never read, still very tight & sharp. Spine is firm. Dust Jacket shows some wear, a light crease on the top near the spine. There is also two box cutter marks on the back Dust Jacket (but it doesn't go thru the DJ and doesn't appear on the actual book cover). Without the DJ defects, book would pass as "Like-New" Condition. A nice copy. Price has not been clipped on the Dust Jacket inside flap. A thought-provoking, gut-wrenching book that addresses America's postmodern ghetto and it's affect on our children. It is a painful but essential read as it examines the lives of children and the conscience of our nation. Author Kozol argues that the ghettos that we know today is not a social accident but was created and sustained by greed, neglect, racism and expedience. The book aks us questions that are not only political but theological. What is the value of a child's life? What do we plan to do with those whom we have defined (by words and actions) as economically and humanly superfluous? A powerful book superbly written that will move you to tears then to outrage. A terrific book for a book discussion group. We ship within 24 hours of your purchase with a Delivery Confirmation.
