Average rating
4 out of 5

Book Description
Novel by Hugo and Nebula Award winner, first serialized in Analog Science Fiction (1983/84). This paperback edition enjoyed over a dozen printings. A sequel, "The Smoke Ring," appeared in 1987. Like much of Niven's work, the story is heavily influenced by the setting: in this case, a gas torus, a ring of air around a neutron star.
