A. A. Milne was born in London, England in 1882. While growing up, he was taught and mentored by H. G. Wells, whom he later described as "a great writer and a great friend." In 1903, Milne began his career as a freelance writer and became a very well known playwright, novelist, and humorist. His most popular works, Winnie the Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner, were published in 1926 and 1928 respectively. Milne died in 1956.
