The continent of Africa is intriguing but misunderstood and to the greater extent unknown. Many still see her as the Dark Continent ravaged by famine, disease and war. Indeed to say that these ills do not exist in Africa would be a fallacy, but Africa has much more to her than starvation, death and human suffering. Africa has a captivating geography, an insipiring history, heroes and heroines, a fascinating culture, beautiful art and above all humour. This book gives the reader a peek into some of the things that make Africa an awesome place. Some of the knowledge is common while the other are rare titbits, but all very interesting and informative. Did you know that Addis Ababa the capital of Ethiopia is the third highest capital city in the world and was founded by Emperor Menelik's queen, Taitu, who called it "New Flower" or "Addis Ababa" in Amharic, or that Burkina Faso (formerly known as Upper Volta) means "the land of upright people" in Mossi and Djula. Such are the titbits found in this book.
