Set in Viking Dublin, this fast-paced period adventure has both comic and exciting episodes. Brother Killian promised Owen and Derval they would be the first from outside the monastery to see the Gold Cross of Killadoo when it was finished. On the appointed day, they discover it has been stolen by a wicked Norse invader, Leif of the One Eye. (Though half blind, he can still spot a gold cross.) What follows is a battle of wills as the children constantly outwit him in their effort to regain the Cross and to escape from the band of Norsemen who kidnapped them.
