"The Senses" is a series of specially written first human biology books. Each book covers one of the five senses, in this case smell, and introduces the young reader to the science of how we perceive and feel things. Each short piece of text is clearly written and accompanied by photographs showing children from the reader's own age-group. There are experiments and projects to demonstrate each sense and to help the reader to relate the information in the book to his or her own body. Also included are examples to show why each of our senses is so important. The advantages and disadvantages for people who have lost one of their senses are discussed.
