Just re-read this book from when I was a child. Still enjoyed it thoroughly. I'm just a little confused. On the first page is a disclamer "This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today. Parents might with to discuss with their children how views on race have changed before allowing them to read this classic work." Is this something just printed on all the older books, or was it for this story in paticular? I couldn't remember any race issues and couldn't find any as I read it, unless it was the slight reference to an Irish cook named Bridget?
