Jack Pierce craves some last-minute excitement before the end of summer. At the local fair, he buys a rubber raft from a quirky old man who insists that the raft is magic and that the kids will experience the ride of their lives if they take it to a local river. He warns Jack that the raft is good for one ride only and that a second trip would lead them to a world of nightmares.

The ride ends tragically when Jack's brother falls overboard. Despite the old man's grim warning, Jack decides to go out a second time in hopes of finding and rescuing his lost brother.

The world and its darkest secrets are about to reveal themselves to Jack in a horrifying manner. Jack Pierce wanted excitement. Now he's got it -- too much of it.
