Marianne reminds us that our parents did the best that they knew how and that they need to be loved, too. The judgments we make against our families only serve to keep us separate from the gifts they can give us and hurt ourselves. What our families didn't get right, we can get right by focusing on what we learned from our pain and sharing this strength with those in our lives today.
