When Sara Donovan joins Project Enterprise she finds out that what doesn't kill her makes her stronger...
An Air Force pilot - the best of the best to be assigned to this mission - Sara isn't afraid to travel far beyond the Milky Way on an assignment that takes her into a galaxy torn apart by a long and bitter warfare between the Dusan and the Gadi.
After she's shot down and manages to land safely on an inhospitable planet, Sara encounters Kiernan Fyn - a seriously hot alien with a few secrets of his own - he's a member of a resistance group called the Ojemba, lead by the mysterious and ruthless Kalian. Together they must avoid capture, but can they avoid their growing attraction to each other?
A mysterious, hidden city on the planet brings Sara closer to the answers she seeks - about her baffling abilities and her mother's past. She has no idea she's being pulled into the same danger her mother fled - the key to a secret left behind by a lost civilization, the Garradians.
The Dusan and the Gadi want the key. So do the Ojemba. They think Sara has it. They are willing to do anything to get it.
Sara will have to do anything to stop them...
A science fiction/action adventure romance novel
When I started writing The Key, I thought I was writing and action adventure romance. I did not write science or space opera or science. Yeah, no science. So it was a shock when reviewers and such started calling it science fiction romance and space opera romance. Okay, I knew it was set in space...but I don't write science. Just ask my high science teachers. It was a big aha moment for me when I realized I still hadn't written science. I'd written science fiction.
Yeah, it is totally and completely made up. So if you like your science fiction to be less fiction and more science, then this book isn't for you.
If you like adventure, mixed with action, mixed with some romance and humor, then put on your mental speed jeans and prepare for a ride. Because I didn't hold back. I let 'er rip and had a great time while doing it. In fact, I had so much fun, what was supposed to be a one book wander into space turned into a six books (well, one novella in there) series that I call Project Enterprise.
The next book in the series is Girl Gone Nova, then I kind of wandered into some steampunk with Tangled in Time and Steamrolled, though they are still science fiction romance, too. I like to mix it up. A lot. After Steamrolled comes Kicking Ashe, which wraps up the series. But there are also two short stories that I wrote in my Project Enterprise universe. I compiled them into a small collection called Project Enterprise: the Short Stories. One is a science fiction romantic suspense and the other is a steampunk romantic suspense. (I did mention I like to mix things up.)
For information on my other books, which include romantic suspense, romantic comedy suspense, a time travel action adventure to World War II (Out of Time), and even a Gothic called A Dangerous Dance, pop over to my website at paulinebjones.com.
