Poetry can connect the dots of one's soul. As a child in a rural county of North Carolina, I was given books by my mother to read and learn about all things God had to offer. My parents encouraged me to read, and my imagination offered the graphics I needed. In elementary school I wrote poems and short stories to communicate feelings and emotions that I may have had trouble saying out loud. By the time I finished high school, I had used my poetry to breach the dark corners of my soul and to bring out points of light that I will live over and over at will. This book was also written as a guide to children who may be a little shy, or the child who may follow the crowd a little too easily. If we want them to be able to cope with feelings of inner-doubt and loneliness, then they must know that they are not the first to have those feelings. I also want them to know that life can be so much fun, whether it's spending time at the park with friends, remembering that "First Day" of school or using their imagination to travel the universe.
