Rockie has been offered a summer job with a newspaper but must travel overseas with her parents, who just inherited a family castle. Rockie is worried at first, but the editor promises to hold her job and tells her to write a good story about the castle. Rockie encounters ghosts, detectives, and phony relatives who have been forging antiques in the basement of the castle and are trying to get their hands on a priceless family heirloom. She meets a friendly ghost named Gwendolyn, who helps her uncover the truth about the phony relatives and the evil ghost who murdered Gwendolyn. Rockie's parents have been converting the first floor of the castle into a restaurant and are not aware of the strange goings on elsewhere in the castle. But on the restaurant's opening night, the truth about the phony relatives and Gwendolyn's murder is revealed. Rocky gets her story, and much more.
