The fact that this eleven-year-old has the gift of clairvoyance only serves to thrust her deeper into the mystery surrounding the farm. But when a deal to sell the property to MegaDiscount Stores is almost finalized, the farmhouse mysteriously burns down on Halloween night, and Iris finds herself at the center of a double mystery involving the Cherokee of both the past and the present. Spurred on by an ethereal entity that appears to her, Iris uncovers human remains buried on the property. Who is this mysterious spirit and what does she want?
