The spread of spiritualism via fiction led the author to examine this genre in its most desirable aspect. From basic moral content the writer was able to extend parallel thought processes into a realm not often studied in literature. The novelist, by going a developmental step further, finds that interest in the book takes on an added dimension. The intention is to have the average reader become familiar with what might be a weighted dialogue between a typical citizen, the boy, and an emissary, Hugo, from the next life. What transpires between these two people makes for some enlightened repartee. Both individuals learn from the other that differences exist, and that adjustment to those differences brings success. Reconciling those differences helps the reader to understand more of him or herself. Finally the novel has a romantic content that works well in holding the story line.
