During recuperation from cancer surgery, Darlene wanted to give her children a special gift, and the Christmas season being her favorite, Santa's Promise was born. Have you ever wondered why Santa Claus makes toys for all the children of the world? Santa, finding himself 'grounded' on Christmas Eve, decides to tell his elves the story of the first Christmas. A unique twist to the story tells the elves exactly how and why children receive toys at this most special time. Santa's Promise allows the child to relate to and understand what the word Christmas means and why presents are given. After giving Santa's Promise to neighbor Kiernan Watts, age 9, Darlene received a drawing from Kiernan. At the bottom of the page Kiernan wrote, "Christ is the meaning of Christmas. Not the presents or the stuff, but the time with your family and remembering the birth of Jesus Christ."
