That’s what Allie thinks as she anxiously awaits her eighth birthday�"certain it will be her luckiest year ever! But will it? Things don’t start out well. Allie’s sister leaves for college. Her parents are preoccupied with the pending arrival of a new Applebee baby. Aaron, Allie’s teenage brother (who exists to torment her), gives Allie a man-eating, eight-legged tarantula for her birthday. And to top it all, Allie loses her best friend.
