Princess Aisha and the Cave of Judgment is the first of five stories that tells how an African princess -when faced with difficult decisions and sometimes danger- reflects on the ethical standards taught to her by her mother and father, the king and queen of ancient Kush. Aisha is a twelve year old girl who is full of adventure and very mischievous. She is often reprimanded for not being in the right place at the right time and for not attending to tasks assigned to her, such as studying music, mathematics, philosophy, languages, archery, and other subjects to ensure that she develops into a knowledgeable young woman.

Aisha finds it more exciting to pretend she is on an adventure that requires all of her mental and physical skills to be triumphant with Thaoma, her chestnut stallion. In this episode, Aisha accidentally overhears royal riders report that danger exists when the king asked them to seek out the source of a strange noise coming from the extreme north of the kingdom. Aisha is bothered by the report and chooses to find out for herself if it is true that the palace and the people who live in villages around the palace are in danger or if the royal riders passed judgment without seeking all the facts. Although Aisha deceives her parents into thinking she is visiting friends when she leaves the palace, she is really following their teachings as she seeks to identify the truth.
