MoreThe Spectacle Celebrating the History of the Indianapolis 500 is a designed to be a mix of historical fact and entertainment for young readers and race fans to learn about the greatest race in the world the Indianapolis 500. The book will be a licensed product of IndyCar and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and will feature a vast number of drivers, teams and racecars who have made an impact on the rich history of racing at the Brickyard.
Rather than run through a chronological list of each race, The Spectacle Celebrating the History of the Indianapolis 500 breaks the content up into to series of short topical sections such as The Offy Era, The British Invasion and The Four-Timer Club. Furthermore, to tie it all together an opening section featuring AJ Foyt [also pending final approval] will setup the story in a unique, identifiable way.
The book illustrations are as authentic as possible, depicting the actual racecars and paints schemes for the cars featured in the book, and the heroes who drove and / or built them. The Speedway will evolve through the book as the track landscape has been enhanced over the past century. Period dress will be woven in for an added sense of time & space. Readers are treated to a mix of car views, including in-car, side, front and backward looking perspectives. All illustrations are hand-drawn and then digitized & colored for placement in the book.
