This is Imitation of Christ's Fraternal Twin. Of all the works within the Christian Heritage Library, there are few more enduring works than Imitation of Christ. Like many siblings, they soon part ways for numerous reasons and this work is no exception. This work is the lost Fraternal Twin. Lost in time, found, and brought back by a Redemptorist priest, it once again fell into obscurity only to be rediscovered and translated into English over 100 years ago. An abbot who in the mid 1600's became bishop of a Northern Italian Town wrote this work for the secular community. Similar to its sibling, this work is terraced into only three books. In this series, it spans two (2) volumes. The effort of the author is focused on the parishioners of his and the surrounding communities in seeking a more devout life, while remaining in their current vocation, regardless of marital status. This work is one of the best my eyes have savored, this work is well laid out, and the verbiage choices are superb while the reader is not lost nor impelled with numerous unreasonable ascetic practices. Within these pages resides some of the best spiritual instruction for the layperson I have yet had the pleasure to peruse. Now for the first time in over (100) One Hundred Years, this remarkable work is in print and has completely re-edited and reformatted. This work was a labor of love; to date there is no other similar work to rival this bishop s effort, nor greater medieval spiritual treatise on the subject. We trust you will agree this is indeed not only a marvelous piece of spiritual literature, but is indeed the Fraternal Twin of Imitation of Christ .
