A ghost? Frank Simmons has been trapped in the "in-between place" for nearly half a century following a fatal accident in the waters of Hawk Bayou behind his family's home. Unable to travel beyond the confines of his house and property, it has been a lonely existence. His only contact has been with another ghost, the legendary Joseph Hawk.

Through the years, Frank has tried in vain to communicate with the many families who have resided in his house. Then, the Fields family moves in. When fifteen-year-old Eddie gets a new computer for his birthday, Frank makes an amazing discovery when he talks, his words appear on the monitor like magic!

Maybe, just maybe, Frank can establish contact with Eddie and win his friendship. With Eddie's help, Frank and Joseph might be able to solve the mystery behind the strange disappearance of Henry Redfeather, the only ghost believed to have escaped from the in-between place.

Is there really a way out? If there is, what lies on the "other side?" Or, is it all just a fable concocted by spirits doomed to spend eternity trapped in a netherworld, with no hope for escape?
