Josh's older sister has an Alaskan girl friend, Alicia, visiting in Hawaii. Alicia makes life miserable for Josh and Tank because she is always taking dangerous risks. She attempts to swim with whales and nearly gets the boys' boat sunk. But that's just the beginning of Alicia's adventures that put the boys' lives at risk. At the same time, Tank's family is considering moving to Alaska, so Josh and Tank anguish over the possibility that this may be their last great Hawaiian adventure together. Alicia unwittingly involves the boys with poachers who are illegally killing harmless sea turtles. Under threat from the poachers, the boys resolve to quit coming to Alicia's aid. Their resolve is tested when Alicia is caught in a massive ocean whirlpool that threatens to sweep her into a half-submerged sea cave where others have become trapped and died.
