The emphasis is on contemporary children's authors and artists. The Grownups' Guide to Children's Literature is made up of some 400 biographical entries as well as subject articles such as "African American Literature," "Death," "The Disabled in Children's Literature," "The Graphic Novel," "How-to Books," and more. Among the individuals profiled are Judy Blume, Gwendolyn Brooks, Roald Dahl, Tomie dePaola, Dr. Seuss, Paula Fox, James Cross Giblin, Ezra Jack Keats, Raffi , J. K.
