Each chapter begins with a Bible story about Creation, retold by the author. The stories are followed by reflections about the nature of Creation and the wisdom that can help to guide our relationship with God's Earth. Finally, easy-to-follow activities, including instructions and a list of the needed materials, flow from the subjects found in the stories.

In the Beginning can be read and used directly by children in the middle-to-upper elementary years, ages 8 to 12, and beyond. It can be shared by teachers, within families, among friends and across the generations.
